"The people running the Endicott Inn were very friendly and willing to please. The room I had was missing two light bulbs over the sink when I checked in. They promptly replaced the missing bulbs when I mentioned it to them. However, all the bulbs in the room were only 40 watts making for a dimly lit room unless the curtains were opened.
The sink had new soap, lotion and shampoo, but also had a bar of pre-used soap in the soap dish. There were also a few hairs in the sink that I know were not mine. The tub/shower was old an not too inviting.
The sheets and pillowcases may have been laundered, but they had a smokey odor to them so I chose to sleep on top of the quilt. The thermostat in the room appeared to be non functioning. It did tell the temperature but I was unable to adjust it. The heater was either on or off, the different fan settings didn't work. Off didn't work either. I had to unplug the heater to cool down the 80 degree room.
The door did not seal properly and I could see daylight along its edge and feel cold air coming into the room, which really wasn't a problem since I couldn't turn the heat off.
The television worked perfectly. The room had a queen size bed round table with two chairs a huge desk with chair (but no light on the desk, making it useless for reading or writing) and a love seat.
As I said, the people were very friendly and helpful and it looks like they are trying to make improvements, but the depressed city of Endicott probably does not bring them enough business to allow them an extensive makeover. The Inn is in a run down neighborhood, but that really describes most of Endicott, so its hard to tell.
There is a Wendy's, a locally owned restaurant/bar right across the street, a Dunkin' Donuts nearby and a Subway a block or two away, as well as some other businesses. It was very convenient for my needs as the location I was visiting was less than five minutes from the Inn. However, based on the cleanliness of the room I will seek other accomadations when I return to Endicott.
The people running the place were really nice and I feel bad about this report, but I think others should know."
